There has been a renaissance in timepieces in the last few years, Kickstarter has been the launching board for many small companies with lofty goals in mind and has seen a gamut of sleek and stylish watches developed and launched from its crowd funding platform.
JP Watch Design, a Sydney based company is currently carrying out a Kickstarter campaign to fund their company’s first project: The Bearing. A sleek, classically styled wrist watch with nautically inspired elements.
With a strong masculine design using expertly crafted materials The Bearing is much more than just another watch. Not only are JP creating this sophisticated time piece but they have a greater social goal in mind, that of a sustainable future and greater social and environmental responsibility and awareness of the corporate and business sectors. They’re committing 15% of future proceeds to 3 selected charities with an aim to give back to the environment and make sure it lasts.
Featuring Japanese Miyota movement, quartz crystal drives its internal date and time. A strong and durable construction consisting of a 316L polished stainless steel case and mineral crystal glass cover means that the longevity of your timepiece goes well beyond its price point. With a 44mm by 10mm body and 39mm window into the custom made crown with the JP logo embossed within, The Bearing is a substantial time piece which will sit proudly on your wrist. Engraved on the back are the three signature icons of JP watches a whale, tree and water drop which signify the dedication to their sustainable, environmental and social ethos.
A 21mm Kangaroo leather strap, which has been ethically sourced as a by product of government population control programs features a stainless steel clasp with the option available in silver or gold. Charlie Middleton, a genuine hand made leather goods manufacture from Bondi Australia has teamed up with JP to create this ethically crafted masterpiece.
